Saturday, August 26: 3rd Annual End-of-Summer Picnic
Join us for a chance to greet new members and reconnect with friends.
The picnic will feature great food, music games, and plenty of time to fellowship!

Gilardoni, Mores, Tosar, Fabini and Liszt.

Piano Auditions: usually held on a Sunday (November 5th)

Registration fees: $40/student; $20/teacher; $100/non-SLAMTA members

Saturday/Sunday November 11-12: Monster Concert
Performers are given the opportunity to participate in a collaborative concert with
multiple performers and a conductor. There is also a T-shirt design contest for the event.
Go to https://www.slamta.org/photos for videos and pictures. Performers are to choose from
the set repertoire list. Midwest Sheet Music has provided a convenient link for ordering most of
themusic on the repertoire list, and will donate half the proceeds from the sale of the music
back to SLAMTA. Registration fee is $22 per student, and $22 per teacher, and payable by
PayPal (preferred) or by check. Parents may perform with their children for free.
Mandatory rehearsal is required. See additional rules and information on the Monster Concert page.

Topic: The Victory Vertical Project

The Victory Vertical Project was the name for Steinway’s small, lightweight,
inexpensive upright pianos that could be packed in a crate and shipped to soldiers
in the field during WWII. Pedersen uses descriptive vignettes accompanied by
piano music in many styles to bring to life a remarkable account of courage,
solidarity, and the power of music during the stressful times of war.

April 6: Young Artist Pre-College Competition
Location: Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville (SIUE), Dunham Hall
Time: 8:30am-2:30pm
Registration opens on March 1 and closes on March 15, 2024.
Teachers are to fill out one Student Registration Form for each of their students
and one Teacher Registration Form.
Registration fee: $55 per student, payable via PayPal (preferred) or check.
Open to piano and string students of current SLAMTA teachers, grades 6-12.
Candidates perform three pieces from contrasting periods, memorized.
There are three divisions: Division I (Grades 6-7); Division II (Grades 8-9)
and Division III (Grades 10-12). Gold, Silver and Bronze medals are awarded in each Division.
YA Winners Recitals (Strings and Piano): @Steinway Piano Gallery, Jane Allen Recital Hall
4:30 pm for pianists; 6:30 pm for string players. Gold, Silver and Bronze medalists must participate. Awards presented after recital.
