Flurry of Fall Activities

Fall is flying by with a flurry of musical activities. We have had two programs emphasizing the importance of strong technique as a basic foundation for all piano playing. Fred Karpoff introduced us to the 3-D program and his Entrada Piano Videos. A grant from MMTA allowed us to invite Alexander Peskanov who shared the Russian Technique and his Piano Olympics program. After his program on “In Search of Sound”, we were inspired to hone up on our own technique. As we listened to Mr. Peskanov work with the students, in a Masterclass, we were amazed at the improved sounds produced under his direction. A huge thank you goes to our program chair, Donna Vince, for coordinating these activities.

Our students also have had a productive fall as 375 participated in the District Auditions, coordinated by Oksana Shpringman. She successfully orchestrated the many details of scheduling and overseeing this event. SLAMTA is proud to have 275 students represent us at State Auditions at SEMO in Cape Girardeau. BEST OF LUCK to them!
