DISTRICT AUDITIONS (MMTA)
Best suited for your finest students, this competition requires students to play two pieces (preschool through
9th grade), or three pieces (10 grade through collegiate).  Specific guidelines, entry forms, repertoire
categories and fee information are found in the summer MMTA Notes magazine or on the state website (www.
missourimta.org). Students receiving a I District rating may play in the Honors Recital and proceed to the State
MMTA Honors Auditions. The MMTA Honors declares a winner, runner-up and honorable mentions and gives
numerical ratings at the State auditions. These auditions do not proceed beyond the state level, unlike the
Baldwin, Selmer and Yamaha national competitions.  Students competing in the latter are not required to qualify
at the District level, but may perform in the District Honors Recital.

Registrations are sent to the District Chairpersons and must include the District registration form found in the
MMTA Notes, a Judge Sheet for each entry, and appropriate fees.  Students will not be registered unless their
teacher has included their Judge Sheets.  No reproduction of copyrighted music may be used by accompanist,
soloist or ensemble member or given as  “Judge’s Copy” to an adjudicator.  Any student using copies will be
disqualified.  This is the teacher’s responsibility. All judge’s decisions are final.  Teachers, parents and students
may not contact judges in person or in writing either before or after an event.

HONORS RECITAL
This event provides a public recital for those who receive a I rating at the District Auditions.  The recital
programs provide an invaluable repertoire list.  There is no fee.  The event is held at a major recital hall.
